Thirty-one days of writing stories and moments to cherish.

And today is just one day.

Thirty-one days of sharing a peek into my life through my eyes.

And today is just another day.

Thirty-one days of noticing and appreciating the BIG and little in my life.

And today is just an average day.

Thirty-one days of celebrating words and connecting with other writers, teachers, mothers.

And today is just a Tuesday.

So, make that thirty-TWO days of writing, expressing, sharing, exploring, playing, examining  --

And today is a new beginning of Slice of Life sharing on Tuesdays.

  1. A great month of writing, reading, commenting and making new friends. Each day brings something that we hadn't noticed before. Here's to a new beginning - Tuesdays! Love ya, Mom

  2. Awesome! There's so much I enjoy about this poem: The repetition and reassurance of this day in every other line. The reflection on the last 31 that we somehow survived only to find outselves needing to write again...immediately. The font in Big and little, and the perfect image to match your poem and our feelings (I think I'm feeling the same way). And, mostly importantly, the really positive tone because I might have been feeling a little overwhelmed about day 32.

  3. Elsie had the same sentiment - a new beginning. It really feels like that.

  4. Oh, I really like this! I love the repetition throughout. I'm excited about a new beginning, too. I'm happy to have accomplished one goal and excited to move on to the next. Looking forward to hearing more from you in the days to come.

  6. In a way I am glad that this first Tuesday comes the day after the challenge ended. I feel like I am still in the swing of things. I am really looking forward to this new year (of Tuesday slicing).

  7. It is amazing how some Tuesdays I have no inspiration at all and then March comes and I find something to share each day . . . well most of the days this year ;-)

  8. I'm glad I'm not just imagining the new year starts now. It will be interesting to see who sticks it out and shows up week after week. See you next week (and the next, and the next . . .)

  9. Love the way you structured this (you always have a way of playing with verse and lines!) to show the ordinary and the not so ordinary and how they are, often, the same.

An Interview with Educator/Momma/Writer Ruth Ayres Celebrating #EnticingWriters + Giveaway!

I love sharing book titles with close friends, so I'm happy you are here! I want to share a book that you must add to your to-be-read list. Ruth Ayres has a brand new book titled  Enticing Hard-To-Reach Writers   published by Stenhouse Publishers. It's another must read from Ruth. There are many professional development books available to learn about mastering our craft of teaching.   However, there are only a few that make a true impact -- and this is one book that weaves raw truth, research, practical ideas, and story all in one {cute} little package.  In  Enticing Hard-To-Reach Writers , Ruth allows her worlds to collide during the creation:  "In this book, I entwine my three story lines as educator, momma, and writer." (p. 6) And she does this in an amazing way through sharing stories of her family, adoption, children living in hard places -- and doing their best  -- and healing. She shares how we can use research to understand how to
