{giving love} #sol18

Slice of Life is  hosted  at the  Two Writing Teachers Join in and share a slice of your life.  _____________________________________________________ It was a moment I couldn't let by me. I met Jan when the girls were in kindergarten. They attended an after school program and she was one of the teachers. They loved going and I was thrilled they were happy to spend their hours after school there. Jan made their time special and fun. Due to our move, we transferred our girls to a new school and a new after school program. Our daily hellos with Jan ended. However, strange as it may be, we were in need of a new hair cutter. Through a conv...

{time for us} #sol17

Slice of Life is  hosted  at the  Two Writing Teachers Join in and share a slice of your life.  _____________________________________________________ It's late. I haven't written a thing. This week I scribbled some ideas and seeds in my notebook. But time has not allowed me the opportunity to just write. Particularly because of our newest obsession with a TV show. Now, here is what you need to know. I watch minimal TV. But so many people encouraged us to just watch. I'm thankful for "on demand" TV. The entire season ready to watch right at my fingertips. Weeks ago we started watching. Almost every night we watched yet another ...

{joy in the ordinary} 13/31 #sol17

__________________________________________________ The March Slice of Life Story Challenge hosted  at the  Two Writing Teachers . Join us for a month of writing! __________________________________________________ It seems that every once in a slice, a writer needs to create a list. I love lists. Lists keep me organized. Lists help me remember. Lists allow me to check off accomplished tasks.   Yesterday, I visited Embekka's slice of Joy . She shared the joy in the ordinary.   Here's a little list of finding thirteen joys in my ordinary ... {inspired writing} 7/31 #sol17

__________________________________________________ The March Slice of Life Story Challenge hosted  at the  Two Writing Teachers . Join us for a month of writing! __________________________________________________ I love that my daughters' see themselves as readers and writers and thinkers at the young age of six. Their writing work from school isn't always freely shared, but once in a while a rough draft will find its way home for me to read and enjoy.   In February, their class celebrated the 100th day of school and with that came a little writing.   P. wrote about living life at 100. I cried reading her writing about being 100 years old -- tears of laughter and joy of her writing and ideas.   First, I will attempt to write about life at the young age of 100 ... inspired by my daughter. I am thrilled to be...

__________________________________________________ The March Slice of Life Story Challenge hosted  at the  Two Writing Teachers . Join us for a month of writing! __________________________________________________ Maybe you have heard. Maybe you haven't. Yesterday morning I stopped by Katherine's blog at Read Write and Reflect .  She openly shared about the anxiety she holds as being a mom. It was sparked by the NY Times article You May Want to Marry My Husband   by Amy Krouse Rosenthal. Yes, the AKR we all know and adore. Please read it. But be prepared. It's real and heartbreaking. I read it with no realization of what I was actually reading. It still sits with me deep in my heart. Deep in my stomach. I thought about her all day. I had a little free time while my girls attended a birthday party and ended up at a ...

__________________________________________________ The March Slice of Life Story Challenge hosted  at the  Two Writing Teachers . Join us for a month of writing! __________________________________________________ Every year I write about this moment. This moment that happens every night, and it's not even a full minute of my day. This tender moment fills my momma heart. At the end of a long day, just before I'm ready to fall into bed, I make my way down the hall. I walk in the girls' room following the glowing night light and the quiet rain showers coming from the sound machine. One body is spread sideways across the bed with no blanket and her Wolfie stuffed animal is flopped on the floor. The other is tucked in tightly under her blanket, sleeping on her tummy with her Wolfie snuggled in. I brush the wisps of ha...

__________________________________________________ The March Slice of Life Story Challenge hosted  at the  Two Writing Teachers . Join us for a month of writing! __________________________________________________ My husband and I thought it would be a good idea to get back into our Wednesday night date nights. That time had slipped away from us after our move into a new home. Time together to actually talk and have full length conversations without interruption is rare with two six year olds entertaining us with their stories and thoughts on life. We also agreed to attend a marriage course at our local church to continue to grow together in our faith and strengthen our marriage. So Wednesday night date nights are at church. We discuss hot topics, such as the art of communication, the impact of family, and resolving conflict. ...

{small moments} #sol17

Slice of Life is  hosted  at the  Two Writing Teachers Join in and share a slice of your life.  _____________________________________________________ Each Tuesday of this new year has come and gone. All seven of them. I was able to squeeze in three slices in January. Life has been busy.  I've been living in all the BIG moments. Home and school consuming every moment. Life is good, but busy. Always on the go just being busy.   I thought about writing. I wanted to write. I would open up my laptop. Then my eyes would close. This whole balancing life is difficult.  And, therefore,  time, energy, and my story did not coincide...

{my one little word} #sol17

Slice of Life is  hosted  at the  Two Writing Teachers Join in and share a slice of your life.  _____________________________________________________ Telling my story about my one little word has been easy to do in the past.  I mean, words have reached out and easily identified themselves as the one.  My focus, mission, living and breathing word for the year was right there. This year has not been the same. I thought I found my word.  I wrote all about it in my journal. Days later I questioned it. My thinking grew and changed. I questioned and contemplated. Then another word came to me days later while I was driving ho...
