Join us for a month of writing! __________________________________________________ Every morning ... "Good morning! Rise and shine! " I softly say as I flip on the light switch, turn off the globe that is used as a nightlight, and push the off button to quiet the sound of rain. I touch her leg to start the wake up process. Then I repeat all of this in another bedroom with my other daughter. I sit on her bed, usually chatting about the day ahead or about the weather, so she knows how to dress for the day. I may hear some groans. There is major stretching. One eye opens slowly. Then the other. Squinting at me in the bright light. Then I repeat all of this in the other bedroom with my othe...

{I could write about} #sol16

Slice of Life is  hosted  at the  Two Writing Teachers Join in and share a slice of your life.  _____________________________________________________ I could write about ... the crazy mixed up schedule and the look of sadness and despair when I informed my friends that small group and book sharing would be temporarily put on hold due to PARCC testing. I could write about ... the excitement that's been building since January is finally happening in the next week and the feeling of anticipation and sense of urgency to  pack, make numerous phone calls, and create checklists for the move into the new home. I could write about ... the daily moments and...

{a rainy today} 13/31 #sol16

The March Slice of Life Story Challenge hosted  at the  Two Writing Teachers Join us for a month of writing! _____________________________________________________ It was a long, cold rainy day.  Usually, I like the rain.  I like the sound of the pitter patter.  I like the smell of the clean air.  Not today.  Today was a long, cold rainy day. We eventually ventured out after trying to sleep in with the loss of the hour.  It was a slow morning and we made it to the second much later service at church.  When it was time to leave, there was more rain and chills. The afternoon was dedicated to picking up and cleaning the house.  One more time for someone else.  It ...

The March Slice of Life Story Challenge hosted  at the  Two Writing Teachers Join us for a month of writing! _________________________________________ The last seven weeks of Non-stop, super busy Craziness of a schedule For us as A family . All the regular routines of life  And then throw in buying a new home Preparing our current home to sell Living in our home in showing condition, But quickly accepting an offer. More paperwork and signatures. A detailed home inspection. A sigh of relief as we move ahead. Then the weekend finally arrived.   And the calendar was (almost) empty.  Girls hockey on Saturday morning.   After that the day was ours. There was nothing scheduled.  Nowhere to go and nowhere to be. And we did much of nothing.   Church on Sunday morning...

{the new home} 6/31 #sol16

The March Slice of Life Story Challenge hosted  at the  Two Writing Teachers Join us for a month of writing! _________________________________________ Finding our new home has been a love story , as Terje beautifully stated in her comment a couple days ago.  We were disappointed looking at house after house until we found this home.   The home went on the market the evening before we first saw it, so there was no lockbox yet.  The owner was there to let us in.  We briefly said hello and he respectfully left to give us space to walk through the home.  When we first walked into this Colonial style home, it took our breath away.  White.  Super white.  Lots of white.  And good thing, we like white.  It was open and airy and light and bright and, yes, white.  The main f...

{our home} 5/31 #sol16

The March Slice of Life Story Challenge hosted  at the  Two Writing Teachers Join us for a month of writing! _________________________________________ Yesterday, I shared the good news that a new home will be all ours in the coming months.  It was a difficult decision, even after we found a home where we could see a future of our family living in this home, growing in this home, and creating new memories together in this home.  Even though we found the most amazing new home, we wondered.  We doubted.  We questioned. We cried.  And cried.  We prayed.  And prayed. A big decision is never easy.   You see, our current home we live in has been in the family for a long time.  My husband's grandfather built our Cape Cod home in 1950.  His mother and aunt grew up in this house. ...
