On July 12th, my husband and I will celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary.  It's quite amazing to think that it seems like just yesterday, yet so much has happened since the day we married.  And to only think, it's really still the beginning . . . with so many years of ups and downs to come!


it seems like just a year ago
we walked down the aisle
a picture perfect day
to celebrate our love

my best friend
the one I trust the most
makes me laugh and
reminds me what is important

every day isn't easy
there are disagreements
quiet and conversations
but we always work it out

you listen you care
you protect you love
you hold you snuggle
you are my rock

    Happy Anniversary Michelle,

    I like when you said you look forward to many more years of ups and downs. Life isn't perfect, but you see the love in your husband. I love the fourth stanza, all the "you's" of your best friend. So sweet. Thank you for sharing your heart.

    Ooh, I love the way your ending was echoed your beginning in reverse -- very powerful! I also loved the second-to-last stanza because it makes your love seem so real. Congratulations!!!

    Happy anniversary, Michelle! 10 years -- awesome! Are you celebrating with a fun getaway? You paint a realistic picture of marriage...it isn't always perfect...but in the end, it is home base. It's where you want to end up -- it's where your dreams take flight. Enjoy!

soLs: a week

Slice of Life Stories hosted by the  Two Writing Teachers I can't believe it's already been one whole week. Sometimes vacations are over in a blink, but other times vacations move slowly to enjoy every moment.  That's how this vacation is going - slowly, but with so much to enjoy. Of course, it is hard being away from home and the every-day-usual, but what I have truly enjoyed the most is the evenings.  After the girls are tucked in bed, it becomes my time to do what I choose to do because I have NO to-do list!  Nothing!  No cleaning, no laundry (thanks Mom!), no dinner (thanks Dad!), no dishes, no nothing.  Instead I have guilt-free time to read books, browse Twitter, catch up on blog reading, scrounge...
