I debated writing today. I debated about what to write about today.

I did my usual pre-procrastination social media scroll.

Twitter. Instagram. Pinterest.

Ahhhh ... I linger as I scroll and smile.

"Yes. Oh, I like that one. Favorite that! Agreed.  I needed to hear that."

And, so, to continue on with my procrastination, I needed to share my love ...

And, thus, a tweet that led to writing this slice.

This last year I needed some positive reinforcements and to re-commitment to staying positive. Thus a Pinterest board full of positivity was created and I invited my biggest positive reinforcement team to join in the pinning: my Mom, and my friends and colleagues, Karen and Chris.  Together we add quotes, images, and powerful words to lift us when we need it and to stay strong in our roles as mothers, teachers, friends, colleagues, and writers!

I love checking in on the positive commitment pins they add each day.

A positive reminder that I am not alone and we can do BIG things together!

Thank you, Mom, Karen and Chris for being my biggest positive commitment cheerleaders!

You are the best! And this is for you ....

  2. I LOVE our Pinterest board. It's fun to throw a snarky poster in there every once in awhile (because I'm human!). I love that board for a little pick me up! XOXO

  3. Always searching for just the right quote to help all 3 of you manage your daily needs of reinforcement and positive thinking in this negative world. I enjoy reading what y'all have added to. These quotes mean as much to me as they do to you. Love ya, Mom

  4. If it makes you feel better, I "procrastinate" by scrolling through social media too! I keeping vowing to change this, but I get so many good ideas, even though I feel that it squanders my time away. Thanks for sharing your positivity board, Michelle. It sent good vibes my way and that certainly isn't a squandering of my time.

An Interview with Educator/Momma/Writer Ruth Ayres Celebrating #EnticingWriters + Giveaway!

I love sharing book titles with close friends, so I'm happy you are here! I want to share a book that you must add to your to-be-read list. Ruth Ayres has a brand new book titled  Enticing Hard-To-Reach Writers   published by Stenhouse Publishers. It's another must read from Ruth. There are many professional development books available to learn about mastering our craft of teaching.   However, there are only a few that make a true impact -- and this is one book that weaves raw truth, research, practical ideas, and story all in one {cute} little package.  In  Enticing Hard-To-Reach Writers , Ruth allows her worlds to collide during the creation:  "In this book, I entwine my three story lines as educator, momma, and writer." (p. 6) And she does this in an amazing way through sharing stories of her family, adoption, children living in hard places -- and doing their best  -- and healing. She shares how we can use research to understand how to
