I wasn't sure I was going to write today.
But I felt the need to write.
"Just ten minutes," Stacey said.

Go.

Just when you think life can't get any busier, it does.

planning
teaching
listening
reading

meetings
listening
supporting
breathing

reviewing
reading
searching
studying

rushing
swimming
playing
jumping

Change is happening all around me.  And I take deep breaths knowing change can be difficult, but change can be good.  My current principal accepted a new position and we move ahead with a principal search.  Tonight I found myself reading resumes, applications, and letters of recommendation for several highly qualified candidates.

In the midst of trying to do my best as a mom, teacher, colleague, and friend.  Staring at my "babies" who will soon be four years old.  Excuse me, but where does that time really go?!?

Yet, I am thankful for my strength in the only One who can provide me with strength every day, every hour, every minute.

Stop.

That's all it took to write my slice this late evening.
"Just ten minutes, " Stacey said.
March will truly be a challenge, but ten minutes I can do.

    Yes. Ten minutes is enough. I have done five minute Fridays with my students - and it's surprising that even with five minutes it's possible to get writing done. I guess in March establishing a daily routine would help. Then again, knowing how busy and unpredictable the days of working moms can be, flexibility is equally important. Let's take it day-by-day, not thinking of a whole month at once. I look forward to reading your slices and poems, my friend.

    In those 10 precious minutes, you again created an energized poem and slice. Keep taking those deep breathes and turning to God during those stressful, difficult and good times. He will get you thru. God Bless. Love ya, Mom

    Your slice reminds me of a line from one of our stories in our lit anthology - "Change is the law that binds us all." I love the movement from obligations to fun with your girls. I'm excited and crazed when I think of March's arrival. I'll try some ten minute slices!

    10 minutes. Makes it seem so easy doesn't it? I've just got to remember to schedule that 10 minutes!

    Change can be hard for us but in the end, those changes can be positive in our lives. Glad you had enough time to fit in a slice!

The March Slice of Life Story Challenge hosted  at the  Two Writing Teachers Join us for a month of writing! I have twin four and a half -- almost five! -- year old daughters.  I try to be consciously aware of what I say and do in regards to my body image and self-esteem and also with their body image and self-esteem.
