And just like that ... December arrives.


The decorations were retrieved from storage. Bins and boxes full of red and silver and sparkling lights.  The tree is standing tall and the mantle is dressed.  Little touches of the holiday sprinkled around the house.

Ella, our little elf, arrived in style today.  She arrived with a letter from Santa reminding our girls the reason for this season: to be kind to all, especially your sister, and the best gift of all, Jesus.

The beginning of the Advent season moves ahead with reading scripture each day telling the story of Jesus' birth and a piece of chocolate to savor.

Then I overheard tonight on the news about a mix of rain and snow tomorrow morning during rush hour. A slow, careful drive to school.

    You are ready. The tree, the lights and sparkle bring the holiday mood. In Estonia most people don't bring in the tree so early. We have little elves visiting children every night in December leaving tiny treats in a slipper on a windowsill.

    The house is decked, but the most important thing is the reminder each day of the true meaning of Christmas. Glad we got home before any more winter weather hit. Hugs to all. Love ya, Mom

    December is such a busy time of year. Don't forget to slow down and enjoy it with your girls! It doesn't get any better that this! I read your slice last week but didn't have time to comment. So glad to see you writing again!

soLs: a week

Slice of Life Stories hosted by the  Two Writing Teachers I can't believe it's already been one whole week. Sometimes vacations are over in a blink, but other times vacations move slowly to enjoy every moment.  That's how this vacation is going - slowly, but with so much to enjoy. Of course, it is hard being away from home and the every-day-usual, but what I have truly enjoyed the most is the evenings.  After the girls are tucked in bed, it becomes my time to do what I choose to do because I have NO to-do list!  Nothing!  No cleaning, no laundry (thanks Mom!), no dinner (thanks Dad!), no dishes, no nothing.  Instead I have guilt-free time to read books, browse Twitter, catch up on blog reading, scrounge...

soLs: a (proud) little secret

Slice of Life Stories hosted by the  Two Writing Teachers Come here.   Come closer.   I have a secret to share with you.   I'm really excited about it and I haven't told anyone except my mom , my hubby, and my friend, colleague, and writing buddy . I receive notifications of comments on my blog on my email at school.  I think all of you will agree, it's always exciting to see that a new comment was left behind.  It never gets old.  Everyone loves a visitor, a voice that let's you know that you've been heard, and a comment that keeps you writing.
