{#sol15} just write 5/31


The March Slice of Life Story Challenge
hosted at the Two Writing Teachers
Join us for a month of writing!

Did anyone happen to mention that challenges can be hard?  
Did anyone tell you that you will have a day when ...

You don't know what to write.
You just don't want to write.
You finally decide to start to write -- and then delete.  Every.  Word.

You WILL struggle.
YOU will push through.
You will just write.

Then you start another slice.  Delete.  Delete.  Delete.
And you wait.  You tap your fingers on the keyboard.  
And you wait.  As if an idea will magically pour out of your fingertips.

You WILL want to give up.
YOU will see a glimpse of a story.
You will just write.

You write and actually finish a slice without deleting it all.
Then you think that what you wrote is just not good enough to share --
Even though no one here -- no one -- is judging you.  

You WILL hate writing.
YOU will wonder why you are doing this.
But you will just write.

Did anyone happen to mention that challenges are hard?
Did anyone tell you that you will have a day when ...

DON'T listen to them.  
Just say, "I'm going to write anyway."

    That was mentioned to me just yesterday...by a friend at school. Well, you can quit at any time, right? Well, I could, but she knows me better than that--I won't. Threading ideas through the brain is a good thing. And that thread, the story thread gives you that perfect escape from the 'to do list' that never, ever gets done!

    Ah yes, the critic inside with her bewitching messages. Many of my posts follow this tempestuous process. Write. Delete. Write some more. Delete. And when I finally publish, I still hear the inner voice, criticizing.

    Once in a while, that witch leaves me unattended, while she vexes someone else, and I write something that I can't wait to share. Something that I am proud of. Words, free of criticism.

    Witch or no witch, I write.

    Sometimes those words and stories that we think are terrible can touch someone else and give them ideas. Yes, it's tough and I don't always want to write, but because of people like YOU, I do share.

    Thankfully I haven't had this...yet but I know it will happen. It did last year. Only in this writing space can we write about not knowing what to write about and still feel safe. We know we are not alone!

    Well, I have already quit several times but somehow the thoughts and words came spewing out and made it to the "paper" before they were gone. I told myself I need to make it to Sunday, and that would be an accomplishment for me. Thanks for validating my thoughts! Your blog is always an inspiration, Michelle!

soLs: a week

Slice of Life Stories hosted by the  Two Writing Teachers I can't believe it's already been one whole week. Sometimes vacations are over in a blink, but other times vacations move slowly to enjoy every moment.  That's how this vacation is going - slowly, but with so much to enjoy. Of course, it is hard being away from home and the every-day-usual, but what I have truly enjoyed the most is the evenings.  After the girls are tucked in bed, it becomes my time to do what I choose to do because I have NO to-do list!  Nothing!  No cleaning, no laundry (thanks Mom!), no dinner (thanks Dad!), no dishes, no nothing.  Instead I have guilt-free time to read books, browse Twitter, catch up on blog reading, scrounge...

soLs: a (proud) little secret

Slice of Life Stories hosted by the  Two Writing Teachers Come here.   Come closer.   I have a secret to share with you.   I'm really excited about it and I haven't told anyone except my mom , my hubby, and my friend, colleague, and writing buddy . I receive notifications of comments on my blog on my email at school.  I think all of you will agree, it's always exciting to see that a new comment was left behind.  It never gets old.  Everyone loves a visitor, a voice that let's you know that you've been heard, and a comment that keeps you writing.
