solsc: relax 27/31

I walked in, dropped my purse, and plopped down into the chair.

I took a deep breath and reminded myself to just r-e-l-a-x and enjoy.

My hair was tugged, clipped up high on my head, pointing in many directions.

The mixture was wiped, foils were wrapped, and the layers grew.

Time to sit, chat, and laugh.  Relax, do nothing, worry less.

Rinse, wash, and repeat.  I closed my eyes.  Scrub, massage, rinse.

I moved to another chair.  Comb, part down the middle, clip here, clip there.

Look down.  Snip, snip, snip.  Snip.  Sit up.  Snip, snip, snip.  Snip.

Refreshing, lighter, a new 'do.  And my job was to relax.

  1. There is nothing better than someone washing your hair and massaging your scalp. It's good that you could take the time to relax and enjoy being pampered. And the new "do" looks great! Love ya M

  2. I did this yesterday too. I love my trip to the "beauty parlor" as my mom called it. The gal who cuts my hair has been doing it for over 20 years and we are friends. It such fun to just sit and visit and be pampered just a little bit.

  3. Spending this time on yourself is soooo worth it! Not only do you get the time in the chair when you are forced to relax, but being pampered a bit creates a whole lot of happy mornings when it is time to do your hair. The repetition here, both in words and structure is very effective--I am lulled into a calm along with you.

  9. Ooh, you've made me want to go get a haircut! (I only get them a couple of times a year, not nearly as often as I should!) I love having my hair washed by my hairdresser -- sooo relaxing! You've captured that feeling perfectly here with all the sensory details. (I love how you never said you were getting a haircut -- this is a great example of "show, don't tell"!)

  11. Don't you just love it, that little bit of time where there is nothing else to do but what you just described, Michelle? Thank you for remembering, and for describing it so well!
