sols: one little note

Have you ever had one of "those" days?
A day where you feel deflated and exhausted?  Busy and unbalanced?
And then in one little moment your day turned right side up?

An email arrived in the middle of the day with
an unexpected note from a friend with impeccable timing
that whispered, "I'm thinking of you and hope all is well."

Thoughtful words that --
Made me smile.
Gave me strength.
Filled my soul.

So, do me a favor?
Go now. Send an email to a friend.
Let them know you are thinking of them.

A gift of words reaching out
that meant the world to me.
Let your words do the same for another.

  1. What a great reminder. I just received an email from a student today that made me smile as well - mentioning something he appreciated. It is always nice to receive emails like that giving feedback on what is working. I am glad that your friend decided to send you this message and that the timing was perfect for you!

  2. Not only did this little note cheer you up but inspired a lovely poem also. I took upon your advice and sent a little note to a friend. Thank you for sharing and thank you for writing. Hug.

The March Slice of Life Story Challenge hosted  at the  Two Writing Teachers Join us for a month of writing! I have twin four and a half -- almost five! -- year old daughters.  I try to be consciously aware of what I say and do in regards to my body image and self-esteem and also with their body image and self-esteem. First of all, because I don't want them to believe everything that society says is true.  Even if they don't fully understand it today.  In addition, because they are fraternal twin sisters, I want them to understand they are individuals with unique and different bodies that God created for each of them.   However, society -- including my loving family and friends -- tell a different story and harmlessly create a comparison war.   My girls constantly hear how beautiful, adorable, cute, fill-in-the-blank with any other
