sols: ten years

Slice of Life hosted at the

On July 12th, my husband and I will celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary.  It's quite amazing to think that it seems like just yesterday, yet so much has happened since the day we married.  And to only think, it's really still the beginning . . . with so many years of ups and downs to come!

it seems like just a year ago
we walked down the aisle
a picture perfect day
to celebrate our love

my best friend
the one I trust the most
makes me laugh and
reminds me what is important

every day isn't easy
there are disagreements
quiet and conversations
but we always work it out

you listen you care
you protect you love
you hold you snuggle
you are my rock

to celebrate our love
on a picture perfect day
we walked down the aisle
ten years ago

  1. Happy Anniversary Michelle,

I like when you said you look forward to many more years of ups and downs. Life isn't perfect, but you see the love in your husband. I love the fourth stanza, all the "you's" of your best friend. So sweet. Thank you for sharing your heart.

  14. Happy anniversary, Michelle! 10 years -- awesome! Are you celebrating with a fun getaway? You paint a realistic picture of marriage...it isn't always perfect...but in the end, it is home base. It's where you want to end up -- it's where your dreams take flight. Enjoy!

I have twin four and a half -- almost five! -- year old daughters.  I try to be consciously aware of what I say and do in regards to my body image and self-esteem and also with their body image and self-esteem. First of all, because I don't want them to believe everything that society says is true.  Even if they don't fully understand it today.  In addition, because they are fraternal twin sisters, I want them to understand they are individuals with unique and different bodies that God created for each of them.   However, society -- including my loving family and friends -- tell a different story and harmlessly create a comparison war.   My girls constantly hear how beautiful, adorable, cute, fill-i...

sols: a gift of words

Slice of Life  hosted  at the  Two Writing Teachers . Join in and share a slice of your life. One of the best gifts I give myself is time to write Monday evenings for the Tuesday Slice of Life.  That writing time allows me the opportunity to think about the little moments in my life.  Sometimes those moments are big and important.  Other times it's a funny moment that made me laugh.  Or a celebration, a word, a poem about the ordinary life.  I'm still amazed that I have been writing each week for over three years! Yet, there is another gift . . . My mom and dad have published my writing.  Just this past Christmas, I received volume five of my blog writing.  Yes, I have five books f...
