The March Slice of Life Story Challenge hosted at the Two Writing Teachers Join us for a month of writing! I have twin four and a half -- almost five! -- year old daughters. I try to be consciously aware of what I say and do in regards to my body image and self-esteem and also with their body image and self-esteem. First of all, because I don't want them to believe everything that society says is true. Even if they don't fully understand it today. In addition, because they are fraternal twin sisters, I want them to understand they are individuals with unique and different bodies that God created for each of them. However, society -- including my loving family and friends -- tell a different story and harmlessly create a comparison war. I hope that you returned fully energized. Your break sounds fulfilling. I have few more days to sleep, play, and read.

I love the verbs that filled your break, but the best was your BEEP jarring you back to work. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI love how you've captured your break--and the return to school. Hope your return to teachers and kids was more gentle than the beeping alarm!
ReplyDeletePerfect. Tomorrow I'll be "beeped" back into real life.
ReplyDeleteHappy 2012,
Ruth
I was beeped yesterday for inservice and today for kids. Wasn't quite ready, but it comes whether we are or not!
ReplyDeleteI know others have mentioned it too, but I love your 'beeping'. Argh, it was so early! Happy New Year, MIchelle!
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect way to capture the transition! I love the font change for the onomatopoeia. I never think to do those things. I am already trying to brace myself for the shock my body will feel tomorrow morning. I have been way off my usual schedule for way too long! Hope your first day back was a reminder of how much fun our jobs are!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to show the connection between the break and back to work. I felt the same way!
ReplyDeleteAhhh I will here that BEEP tomorrow I hope it's like I never even left. You captured it so well.
ReplyDeleteHave a great second Half.
