A couple days ago, in my {Today I} slice, I mentioned that the girls and I visited the Usborne book sale at the YMCA ... with no intention of buying any books. I just purchased a bunch of books through the Scholastic book clubs, and I also know that Usborne books are usually more expensive.

But we ended up by eight new books. I found two great titles as did my girls, including a little gift for my school's social worker and psychologist. We have many kids who come from hard places, who bring a lot of baggage to school, who are just having a hard time with life. It is draining on us -- teachers, social workers, and psychologists. We've got a lot of tricks and strategies up our sleeves, but it's still hard to manage emotions and stress.

That's why these books jumped out at me! I flipped through the pages and just knew I had to purchase a copy for them. And for only $6.99 each -- I bought a copy of each for myself too!

Check them out! These books help students target their feelings and provide strategies for dealing with them. A little doodling, jotting down feelings, thinking happy thoughts. This gift will keep on giving!

    Eight new books is a treat. Knowing that these books are gifts shared with others and that they will help someone amplifies their value. Great recommendations.

    Thank you for sharing your finds! Looks like I'll be making some purchases myself. There seems to be a growing need for resources to help kids deal with their emotions.

I have twin four and a half -- almost five! -- year old daughters.  I try to be consciously aware of what I say and do in regards to my body image and self-esteem and also with their body image and self-esteem.
