{easter morning} 27/31 #sol16

The March Slice of Life Story Challenge hosted  at the  Two Writing Teachers Join us for a month of writing! __________________________________________________ The girls woke up this morning seemingly forgetting about the visitor.  I could hear them talking, but not quite able to make out their words.  Just a lot of chatter back and forth.  But no one was bursting from the bedroom wanting to rush downstairs. Daddy went to check on them first.  He found them excitedly trying to get dressed in their new Easter dresses.  He suggested they leave their PJs on because we had some time before church. "And ... aren't you forgetting something else?" I paused, waiting. "Happy Easter!" "Oh! Happy Easter! Can we go downstairs?!?" It dawned on them about that special visitor. The girls raced down the stairs -- ...

{welcome december and ...} #sol15

Slice of Life is hosted  at the  Two Writing Teachers Join in and share a slice of your life.  _____________________________________________________ I happily  welcomed December   and all the holiday joys. In less than seven days busy with life and events  visiting many crowded places ... School Tired eyes Ice hockey Sore throat School holiday shop Itchy red rash  Crafts at the Bethlehem Market Stomach ache A visit to the doctor Yep, strep throat for one.   Waiting on the second. Welcome, again December  and all your germs. (But don't plan on sticking around.)

{hello, december} #sol15

Slice of Life is hosted  at the  Two Writing Teachers Join in and share a slice of your life.  _____________________________________________________ And just like that ... December arrives. The decorations were retrieved from storage. Bins and boxes full of red and silver and sparkling lights.  The tree is standing tall and the mantle is dressed.  Little touches of the holiday sprinkled around the house. Ella, our little elf, arrived in style today.  She arrived with a letter from Santa reminding our girls the reason for this...

{like riding a bike} #sol15

The Slice of Life is hosted  at the  Two Writing Teachers Join in and share a slice of your life.  _____________________________________________________ This Mother's Day I received two special gifts. One.  The BIG gift of time.  My husband took our now five year old daughters for a couple hours in the afternoon so that I could have some time for me.  In a moment like that, it's quite sad to say that I almost didn't know what to do with myself!  My initial thought was to open up my school bag that I drag home every day but rarely touch.  But I didn't.  Then I thought I should just start a load of laundry, do the dishes and clean off the counter.  Nope, I walked away. I found myself o...

{sol} not too early ... right?

Slice of Life  hosted  at the Two Writing Teachers Join in and share a slice of your life. We did it. We took our girls and we went. I never intended to do this.  It was not predetermined or planned. It just kinda-sorta-happened.  All on a whim. Yep.  We saw Santa.  And his reindeer.   Before Thanksgiving. I know, I can't believe it either!  I am one to celebrate the holiday that is coming and not any earlier.  I love Thanksgiving, so we celebrate being thankful.  And this last weekend, we rushed by it all and saw Santa. The good news?  It was free.  I snapped a few cute photographs.  Now we can avoid the busy mall and the overpriced photo with a cry...

{sol} flashing lights

Slice of Life  hosted  at the Two Writing Teachers Join in and share a slice of your life. It happened like that.  Not slowly.  Not gradually.  It just happened.  I was completely blindsided. The blinking bright lights caught their eyes first.  They were immediately mesmerized. As we were getting situated into the double cart, one of my four and a half year olds asked, "Momma, can we go over that way?" Reindeer and snowmen.  Trees and icicles.  Flashing lights and decorations.  Yep, Christmas.  We were surrounded by Christmas.   In October.  Just like that.  Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Christmas .... during the Christmas season! And along with all the dec...

{celebrate}: this week

I'm here to  {celebrate}  with  Ruth Ayres   and  YOU ! Finding the little moments of joy in life. Today I am celebrating. {victory} Tomorrow is Easter Sunday.   Bunny baskets filled with green grass, n ew bubbles and outside games.   Brightly colored hidden plastic eggs stuffed with chocolate candies and jelly beans.  Sounds like a win, right?  Sure, maybe a temporary victory. But the true victory is in Jesus. Jesus died a brutal death.  None of us will truly understand the depth of His suffering.  He lived out God's plan and died for you and for me.  For our sins.  For our wrong doings.  For our disobedience.  For our disregard to do what is right.  Past. Present. And future. But the true victory is in Jesus.  He is the { glue } that keeps my sticky, messy life together. Tomorrow I will celebrate this good news.

sols: today is mine

Slice of Life  hosted  at the  Two Writing Teachers . Join in and share a slice of your life. The two week break from school (with now an additional two days) was needed. {Joy.} However, it wasn't what I had imagined . . . reading all day relaxing with my feet up on the couch doing a lot of nothing It was more like . . . constant go-go-go chaos projects, baking, cleaning, shopping scheduled {much-loved} family time Yet, today is mine.   And that is why I am even more grateful for the additional two *cold* days.  People always joke about needing a vacation after a vacation.  After the last two weeks of busyness, I was celebrating a day of not going and doing. {Joy.} Because of the extreme cold, we were forced ...

solsc: a hunting we will go 24/31

March Slice of Life Story Challenge  hosted  at the  Two Writing Teachers Join us for a month of writing! My daughters and I braved the chill in the air and attended our first ever outdoor Easter egg hunt.  A beautiful sunny day that warmed up enough to be outside for a minimal length of time.  My husband's mom, Nana, invited us to her neighborhood for an egg hunt. As we drove across town, I talked with the girls about where we were going -- the school where Daddy went when we was little, and about the hunt for eggs to put in their bunny baskets. "How many eggs do you think you will find?" I questioned the girls. "I don't know," P. responded. "Well, let's try to find at least...
