I love you 
     because ...

I made a framed message board for my hubby for Christmas a year ago.  We see it every day as it rests on my dresser, near the doorway.

Powerful words we say to each other every day.  Several times a day.
But the 'because' is fulfilling to hear, to know, to be reminded of --

I love you 
     because ...

When we first met, he {actually} said, "This is not a pick up line...
But I really like your smile." And my response?

"Oh, usually it's my eyes."  Sarcasm and all.  {Blink. Blink. Blink.}
My hubby scrawled this same message -- and I added a line too.

I love you 
     because ... of your smile 
                                            ... and eyes.

 One day a drawing of a mommy was added by a little artist.
Then a second little artist displayed her talents on the message board too.

The framed message board sat for months untouched and unchanged.
But I still smiled every time I caught a glimpse of the sweet words and precious pictures.

I love you 
     because ...

Just yesterday P. woke up and meandered into my bedroom as I was getting ready.
My laptop was on top of my dresser as I was quickly trying to post my slice of life.

She noticed the framed message board next to my laptop and reached for the black marker.
"Do you remember what it says?" I asked.  I pointed and read it --

I love you 
     because ...

"Would you like to write something new?"
I wiped the lingering special message away, positive I had already taken a picture.

She started with a new drawing of Mommy.
"What do you want it to say?"

I love you 
     because ... 
              YOU 
              ARE 
              BEAUTiFUL.


P.'s new message for Mommy with a little spelling help.
Yes, I am wearing a crown.

    I love this idea! I love how this gift has extended from a message board from you and your husband- reminding you of the love you share and of your first meeting but now it shows the love from your daughter!

The March Slice of Life Story Challenge hosted  at the  Two Writing Teachers Join us for a month of writing! I have twin four and a half -- almost five! -- year old daughters.  I try to be consciously aware of what I say and do in regards to my body image and self-esteem and also with their body image and self-esteem.
